MUIR RESIDENTS ENJOY A TASTE OF EUROPE AS THEY TAKE A CULTURAL WHISTLE-STOP TOUR
RESIDENTS have been experiencing life across Europe as they enjoy a taste of travel despite COVID-19 restrictions.
They’ve been getting a glorious glimpse of France, Spain and Greece before heading to Italy on the last leg of their transcontinental tour.
But unlike most of us, they won’t need to quarantine, because they’re doing it all from the comfort and safety of Muir’s Independent Living schemes.
“We’ve all saved a fortune on air fares,” Donna Hufton, Muir’s Tweedsmuir scheme manager said.
“Residents have been tasting more of the good life at Tweedsmuir by enjoying a slice of culture abroad.
“They’ve been enjoying tapas, brie, wine, olives and plenty more, as well as lots of continental music and even the odd film to help lift the spirits and make our travels come to life.
“It’s been great to see the residents really enjoying being together again having isolated for so long, and what better way to do it than on an all-inclusive whistle-stop tour of Europe.”
“Now we’re about to enjoy the last leg of the tour with a trip to Italy for a peek at the Coliseum too.”
Smithy Court residents were also among those hot-footing it across the continent.
“The weather has been great and we’ve all loved virtual visits to the Eiffel Tower, Olympia and lots of other places,” Lorna Clare, Muir’s Smithy Court Scheme Manager said.
“Hopefully our Italian pit-stop will be just as much fun, with plenty of pizza too.”
Independent Living residents have been coming together for their socially distanced virtual holidays within the gardens of the schemes once a week – with a different cultural experience each time as they travel on their mystery tour.
