MUIR TEAMS UP WITH FOOTBALL’S FA TROPHY WINNERS TO KICK-OFF NEW FREE YOUTH CLUB

HOUSING officers at Muir have teamed up with football’s current FA Trophy holders to provide a free youth club for youngsters.

National League side, AFC Fylde, are opening the gates at their Mill Farm stadium complex to young Muir residents twice-a-week to learn new life and leadership skills with some great results.

Fylde inspired their community by beating Leyton Orient 1-0 at Wembley in May to lift the 2019 FA Trophy.

“The children have really been enjoying themselves and working well together,” Emma said.

“They’ve told me they’d normally just be playing computer games so it’s great to see them getting involved in something different.”

Children have also enjoyed a tour of AFC Fylde’s Mill Farm stadium, and have even got to meet the players.

“It’s great watching the children learn new skills and make new friendships which has resulted in less anti-social behaviour on estates too,” Emma added.

Muir’s free AFC Fylde youth club is open to all young residents between the ages of 7-12.

Anyone in the area who would like to attend or learn more about the youth club can contact Tom Hutton, Director of AFC Fylde Community Foundation, on 07739 796101.
