MUIR’S NEW PROPERTY SERVICES APPROACH ‘GOING THE EXTRA THOUSAND MILES’ FOR RESIDENTS

MAINTENANCE staff are going more than the extra mile for residents as part of a revamped Property Services approach.

One resident reported being called by an engineer holidaying 1,000 miles away in Spain, to reassure them their repair would be resolved upon his return.

And the team has been busy installing new kitchens and bathrooms in a number of properties as part of a £6million planned maintenance programme, after the revamped service was officially launched in February.

MPS Staff are also conducting reviews of Muir’s housing stock, to ensure all properties continue to meet the Decent Homes Standard, as they did in 2017-18.

Nik Evans, the department’s Assistant Director said: “The revised Property Services model will deliver enhanced services to residents.

Nik Evans“There is some way to go before the benefits can be fully enjoyed, but we are encouraged by our early efforts.”

Funding is already in place to ensure Muir maintains the quality housing it provides, and the Association is also working to give residents greater value for money from its maintenance service.

“We have been procuring new contracts, short-term and long-term, to achieve that while improving service levels; rather than compromising them,” said Nik (left).

MPS“More work is being undertaken by our own in-house contractor, Muir Property Solutions (MPS), and the partnership with Kier Services in our East region is helping us achieve more while we identify a long-term maintenance provider for the area.”

New compliance policies and ways of working are also allowing Muir to retain and enhance its responsible approach to landlord health and safety, and provide better performance monitoring processes.

Tony Jones, Muir’s Assets Planning and Contracts Manager added: “The new-look team is pleased with the solid start made to the new financial year.

“We will continue to build on this for the benefit of Muir residents.”
