NEW MUIR APPRENTICES ENJOY LAYING FOUNDATIONS FOR THEIR FUTURES

TWO new Muir apprentices have explained why they’re happy in housing as they look to build a career in the sector.

Selina Salinger and Megan Moss are both joined Muir this summer as they undertake a 16-month apprenticeship which will give them vital foundations for their futures.

The pair have already been busy working with residents and learning a host of new skills.

And they took time out from their roles to explain exactly why Muir’s apprenticeship- scheme was the right move for them.

Muir staff “I like the sense of community you get from working in housing,” said 23-year-old Selina (right), who recently graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a degree in English Language and is currently working in Muir’s Customer Experience Team.

“My mum works in housing so it’s something I’ve always known a little bit about, but it’s great learning new skills.

“I’m enjoying developing my knowledge of property rules and regulations which is really important when you’re helping to resolve issues for residents who are calling in.

“I’m learning a lot about procedures and social housing, and it’s good to be working towards a qualification too.”

Muir staff As well as working towards a Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 Certificate in Property Management, Selina is also aiming to complete her first half-marathon next year after returning from a trip to New Zealand in January.

Megan meanwhile has been providing support to one of Muir’s dedicated housing teams, conducting pre-tenancy assessments and shadowing team members.

“I wanted to work as I learn and Muir’s apprenticeship scheme is a great way to do that,” said eighties music lover, Megan (below).

“I enjoy the independence of the role while still being part of a team and learning from others, providing admin support by writing letters to residents, and visiting them to discuss their needs face-to-face.

“I’m able to work on finding solutions to any issues and I’m also enjoying that aspect of my role.

“At Muir I’m doing something new every day and it’s a really friendly place to work.”
