Next stages of Cheshire affordable housing scheme handed over

PHASES two and three of an affordable housing scheme in Lostock Gralam near Northwich have been completed by Barratt Homes, and eight properties within it handed over to Muir Housing Group.

The properties, situated on the Cheshire Limes development on Stubbs Lane in Northwich, consist of a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership two and three bedroomed homes. Construction started onsite in late 2012 and will total 119 family homes when completed in 2016.

“We’re delighted to have been handed over the new affordable properties by Barratts. The site is so popular we already have residents and owners lined up to move in, and we are taking ownership of more homes on the site in the near future,” said Azhar Ahmed, Senior Development Officer at Muir Housing Group.

“Cheshire Limes is the latest development partnership between Muir Group and Barratt Homes, as we have recently worked with them on schemes in Ellesmere Port and phase one of this project. We enjoy working with them, and look forward to continuing collaborating together in the future.”

The development was approved under Section 106 guidelines, meaning it must have mixed tenure, including affordable housing and shared ownership properties on the site. All of the properties handed over to Muir Group were available on Cheshire West and Chester’s Home Choice programme. And because of the success of the development, Muir Group and Barratts are bringing the start of phases four and five forward by a year to 2015 and 2016, with phase four to be started in December of this year.

Muir Housing Group has its headquarters in Chester and currently manages around 5,000 properties across the country.
