Partnership puts new digital opportunities at the touch of a button
NEW digital skills will be just the touch of a button away when a project encompassing one Muir community gets underway.
Muir Group Housing Association is working in partnership with other housing associations in the area of its Cinnamon Brow scheme in Warrington to help deliver an exciting Digital Inclusion Project.
The nearby Fearnhead Community and Youth Centre will be housing the initiative which is benefiting from a £1,000 Muir funding grant, used to help purchase 12 new laptop computers.
Muir has also been continuing its involvement with the Cinnamon Brow Residents Association to help the Fearnhead Education Project become reality having successfully worked with the group to deliver a community play facility in Spring 2015.
Lauren Wheeldon, Muir’s Tenancy Services Officer for Cinnamon Brow, is excited about the potential for residents in the area and said: “This project offers an array of opportunities for people.
“It will help stop anyone from being isolated and enable them to learn new skills, become computer literate and have a service they can go to.
“People looking for work will be able to improve their CV and everyone will be able to access social media, their favourite website and the general internet a lot more easily.”
Lauren has worked with the project’s steering committee to help the initiative become a reality and boost the £7,000 Big Lottery grant it had already received.
She said: “Muir is really pleased to have been involved.”
Work undertaken at the Fearnhead Community and Youth Centre to house the project includes a revamp and enlargement of its existing computer room.
The Digital Inclusion Project will be officially launched on Monday, July 18.
