PASSIONATE RESIDENT GIVES COMMUNITY SPACE A COLOURFUL MAKEOVER
A RESIDENT has transformed one of her community’s green spaces with a colourful garden makeover.
Godmanchester resident, Tracy Smith, got her gardening gloves out to breathe new life into a tired green space with the help of £300 in funding she applied for from us.
She set to work and is now seeing her hard work begin to flower as fellow residents enjoy the difference she’s made.
“The feedback from people has been amazing – they love it,” Tracy, 59, said.
“Green spaces and the outdoors are important for mental health.
“I have a balcony but some of my neighbours don’t but now there is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy more of the outside.
“When people get involved in projects it helps them take more pride in their community.
“The place had become a littler trap but now we have a place to sit outdoors and chat.
“Many people stop to talk if you’re there and they see you.”
Tracy approached her Tenancy Sustainment Officer to explore funding opportunities that could help make her outdoor vision a reality.
“I worked with Sophie to obtain the funding,” the Tracy, said.
“I find Muir to be a very caring organisation and I was very pleased to have their help.
“The funding enabled me to make a difference and I’m quite passionate about having outdoor spaces that people can enjoy.”
