READING RESIDENTS MAKE MOST OF MUIR ESTATE IMPROVEMENT EVENT AND PILE KIER SKIP SKY HIGH

RUBBISH and unwanted items were piled high when Muir’s Reading residents binned old beds and bicycles.
Kier, Muir’s maintenance provider in the East, arranged for a skip to be provided for residents living on Westerham Walk and Taynton Walk, helping remove unwanted items which could now be recycled.
It all formed part of an environmental estate event arranged by Muir and Kier, which also saw outdoor bin stores cleared and cleaned, as well as the provision of extra facilities and waste collections to ensure the Walks remain in tip top notch.
“Kier arranged to provide a massive skip for the day and residents took full advantage,” Muir Tenancy Services Officer, Sue Harris said.
“It was soon piled high with beds, mattresses, furniture, bicycles and plenty more.
“The bin store area was also cleaned up and we’ve been able to arrange for extra collections as well as more bins for residents so that should benefit everyone too.
“We’re glad the event helped so many people and we’re grateful to Kier for agreeing to help make it happen.”
The items collected will now all be sorted before being made available for recycling.
A Kier spokesman said: “It was great to help make a positive difference to Muir residents by providing the skip and removing their unwanted items.
“As well as improving the bin stores on the estate, we also enjoyed meeting the residents of Westerham Walk and Taynton Walk.”
