Rent surgeries can help Muir residents overcome money worries

FREE Rent Surgeries designed to help residents facing or fearing financial problems are to be hosted by Muir.

The initial February 24th surgery will be the first of regular rent surgeries set to take place on the last Friday of each month for Muir Group Housing Association residents in the Cheshire West and Chester areas.

Taking place at Northwich Job Centre, residents can receive free advice and guidance in confidence, on matters including rent arrears, Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Discretionary Housing Payments and much more.

Tenants do not have to be in arrears, simply a Muir resident, in order to attend the rent surgeries, which run from 1pm-3:30pm.

Muir Income Services Officer, Tara Bold said: “The rent surgeries offer tenants the chance to receive a range of helpful and preventative advice, which includes possible referrals to Muir's own Money Advisors and support agencies for further assistance.

“We believe the surgeries will be a great way for residents to work with us to overcome financial concerns and help them sustain their tenancies.

“We want to help residents who are worried about their tenancy due to financial worries, and give them the advice they need regarding available benefits and assistance we can offer.”

The rent surgeries, at the Job Centre at 17-21 London Road, Northwich, work on a first-come first-served basis with no appointment necessary.
