Residents encouraged to be aware after report of bogus call
MUIR Group Housing Association is encouraging its residents to be vigilant following reports of a bogus call at one of its properties.
Two women claiming to be from Muir called at a property in Wynbunbury, Cheshire, on Thursday May 19th, and were reportedly carrying company identification badges.
Both women entered the property after being allowed in and are said to have enquired about the wellbeing of the resident living there before leaving soon after.
However, the resident became suspicious and, after checking its records, Muir can confirm it is not aware of any of its representatives visiting the address in question, at School Bank, on that day.
The matter has since been reported to Cheshire Police who confirmed: “It was reported to us that two well dressed women attended the property, claiming to be from Muir.”
Jackie Perry, Muir Housing Service Manager added: “We encourage all of our residents to be vigilant.
“Any resident who has a concern about a visitor to their home claiming to be from Muir is welcome to call our Customer Services Team on 0300 123 1222 so we can confirm their identity before they consider allowing them into their home.”
