SCHEME GARDEN GETS BRIGHT NEW LEASE OF LIFE AS RESIDENTS ENJOY MUIR AND KIER CONTRIBUTION
RESIDENTS are already accessing all areas at a Muir sheltered housing scheme after a garden revamp enabled them to celebrate more of the sun.
The gorgeous McCartney House garden gives residents a great outdoor space to enjoy, but had occasionally proven problematic for those with mobility issues.
However, Muir and maintenance provider, Kier, recently joined forces to refresh the area, improving access and pathways while giving it a pretty new makeover.
“Everyone has done a really lovely job and residents are really pleased,” Muir’s McCartney House Scheme Manager, Jackie Vickery said.
“It will make a big difference to residents who can now get around the garden much more easily. They were very keen to get out there.
“Everything looks so much better and we can get outside and do some new planting now too.”
The improvements at the scheme in Cambridgeshire formed part of the ‘added value’ aspect of Kier’s £15m maintenance contract secured by Muir’s Property Services department, which sees the company provide repairs and maintenance throughout the Association’s East region.
Work included creating new pathways, relaying the patio area and building new raised flower beds around it.
Teams also enhanced the seating area, cut back overgrown shrubs, painted the pergola and gave the garden a general tidy up.
Mark Hopkins, Contracts Manager at Kier said: “We are really excited to have been working on this first project with Muir, delivering added value for the residents at McCartney House.”
“Making a positive impact, above and beyond the day job in the communities we work in is really important to Kier”.
