SOCIAL HOUSING REGULATOR GRANTS MUIR TOP RATINGS AFTER RIGOROUS ASSESSMENT
MUIR has retained its top Governance and Viability ratings following a rigorous assessment by the Regulator for Social Housing.
The RSH conducted an in-depth assessment of Muir Group Housing Association earlier this year, and announced it will continue to operate as a G1 and V1 rated social housing provider.
The coveted G1 and V1 ratings are the highest available in the social housing sector.
“Muir’s V1 and G1 ratings underline our dedication both to our residents and our position as a social housing provider,” Catherine Dixson, Muir’s Chief Executive (pictured) said.
“It not only proves we uphold our responsibilities as a landlord, but we have the right foundations and practices in place to deliver on them.
“To retain these ratings is obviously wonderful news for ourselves and our residents, but it also makes us determined to build on what we have.
“We are committed to enhancing our services and increasing the number of new affordable properties we deliver, as well as upgrading our existing housing stock, so Muir residents can take pride in their homes and access the support they may need.”
In-depth RSH assessments aim to recognise:
- whether provision of social housing by landlords is well-managed and of appropriate quality
- that actual or potential tenants have an appropriate degree of choice and protection
- that tenants have the opportunity to be involved in its management and hold their landlords to account
- to encourage contributions to environmental, social and economic well-being in areas where the landlord works
The RSH in-depth assessments also work to identify:
- that providers of social housing, who are registered with the RSH, are financially viable and properly managed - performing their functions efficiently, effectively and economically
- that the social housing provided is sufficient to meet reasonable demands
- value for money
