THERE’S NEW ROOM FOR WELLBEING AT MUIR’S ‘COLOURFUL’ SUPPORTED SCHEME

THERE’S even more room for wellbeing at a Muir supported living scheme after residents helped create a colourful new space.

Residents and Muir staff at Cornwall House in Chester have opened the door to a new wellbeing room designed to provide an extra space for people to enjoy.

Wellbeing Room The room features bean bags and mood lighting, fidget toys to help with anxiety, information and development sheets, and mental health books.

And a ‘wide-open space’ full of colour has been painted by one resident after she used her artistic flair to help people feel at one with the world.

“The inspiration for the Wellbeing Room came during the COVID-19 Lockdowns,” Becky Smith, Project Officer at Cornwall House, which provides self-contained accommodation for people with an enduring mental health condition

Wellbeing Room “Some residents living here don’t have a lot of family and we wanted to provide some extra support.

“We’ve been able to create a designated area where residents can enjoy some time alone, receive some one-to-one support from staff, or just a space to relax.

“It looks fantastic and residents are already making good use of it.”

A mural depicting a wide-open space has been painted by one artistic resident, Ellie, who said she wanted to bring more of the outdoors into the new wellbeing room.

“I was inspired to create a big open outside space and help people feel as though the room was part of the outdoors,” Ellie (right) said.

Other residents also had a hand in creating a comfortable wellbeing area, which was developed with the help of funding from Redrow Homes.
