Tidy Muir staff are litter-picking good

STAFF at Muir have been helping clean up the community by litter picking in parts of Blackpool.

Muir’s North Team hit the streets armed with litter pickers, wheelbarrows and refuse sacks, filling 25 bags of rubbish as they joined hands with the Blackpool Community Action Group in a bid to spring clean areas of the seaside town.

Blackpool litter-pick The March 10th Community Litter Pick encouraged volunteers to help tidy up their town and give some the streets and greener places a face lift ahead of the busy summer season.

Staff hope the success of the event will encourage more people to take part in the future, having enjoyed their day’s work and reflected on a job well done.

Muir Community Housing Assistant, Liz Christian, was one of the Association’s employees taking part on the day and said: “It is great to make a positive difference.

Blackpool litter-pick “We filled 25 bags of rubbish so we had a very productive day which was really good.

“We got rid of lots of rubbish from hedges, some of which had been there for years.

“It was quite therapeutic and very satisfying too.

“It would be nice to welcome more Blackpool volunteers at future events like this, and it was great to work alongside Blackpool Community Action Group too.”

Blackpool litter-pick Litter picking took place around some key areas of Grange Park in Blackpool, particularly around the Chepstow Road shops, Boundary School and the Black Path area.

The team also concentrated on the area around the Muir-managed houses at Normoss.
