UNITED NATIONS MAN ‘LOVES MUIR LIVING’ AFTER A LIFE AROUND THE WORLD
A FORMER policeman says Muir Living ensures he’s never felt more at home despite having also worked around the world for the United Nations.
Ernest Maleham resides at Muir’s Independent Living scheme in Godmanchester and believes the Muir Living lifestyle suits him and his wife down to the ground.
The 86-year-old has been a Muir resident for over 21 years having lived and worked around the world during life as a Deputy Cashier for the UN.
After having homes in New York Jerusalem, Bangkok, Damascus and Icmeler, Ernest and wife Jenny have retired gratefully to live with Muir.
“We enjoy living here, it’s comfortable and much easier to look after than a house,” Ernest said of the Godmanchester Muir Living locations near Huntingdon.
“We’re happy here and we have a very nice, comfortable flat.
“Any maintenance has always been done reasonably quickly and we were even able to make a few modifications to the flat with Muir’s permission.
“We were also able to refurbish the bathroom to suit my wife’s mobility needs.
“The building is quiet, peaceful and well maintained and anything we want we either do or we get.
“Dawn, the scheme manager, gives anyone the time they need and Muir’s independent living lifestyle suite us well.
“I can’t see us ever moving from here.”
Ernest and Jenny moved to the area from Yorkshire to be closer to their son and say they’ve never looked back.
“It’s very much value for money and Muir listen and do what they can to help you,” Ernest said.
“They must be near the top of the list regarding social housing.”
