WOMAN MOVES IN WITH MUIR AFTER ESCAPING DEVASTATING SCHEME BLAZE

A WOMAN whose possessions were destroyed in a devastating blaze has moved in with Muir after fire gutted her residential scheme home.

Jan Buckley says she was left with little more than what she stood up in when flames took hold of the Beechmere residential apartments in Crewe on 8th August.

She escaped along with other residents who were evacuated from the building as the fire unfolded.

Muir resident But the 67-year-old is beginning a fresh chapter by settling into a brand-new Muir bungalow where she says she’s delighted to be living in the wake of her ordeal.

“What happened at Beechmere was awful to see,” Jan said.

“I lost nearly everything – personal and sentimental possessions.

“I just walked out of there with what I stood up in.”

Jan set foot in her new front door with Muir just weeks after the blaze, and having undergone a hip operation in the short time since too.

“I love the house,” she said.

Muir resident “It’s a new beginning for me. I’m starting afresh again, and from scratch this time.

“It’s nice to go in and out of my own front door and it has a lovely garden which I’m looking forward to spending time in.

“I don’t want to move again. My family know I’m happy here and it’s so lovely and quiet.

“It’s the first time in a long while that I’ve really felt at home.”

The bungalow is one of six newly-built Muir properties that have been made available for affordable rent in Alsager this year.

“Muir have been really helpful,” Jan added.

“Whenever I’ve called them I’ve always been happy with their response.”
