Looking for something to do with the kids over half-term? Stuck at a loose-end at the weekend? Well there’s plenty going on right on your doorstep!

We’ve put together a list of FREE events that are happening near you during the summer holidays:

 

Huntingdon's Summer Outdoor Performances

Where: Bloomfield Park, Huntingdon

When: Every Saturday in July and August

Huntingdon Town Council’s popular Summer Outdoor Performances returns this summer. Each year hundreds of people sit on the grassy banks listening to the music whilst enjoying a picnic.

A host of local bands are taking part in the concerts, covering a variety of styles and music tastes!

Summer Giants Strong Man Competition & Funday

Where: Towneley Park, Burnley

When: Sunday 19th July (10.30am – 5pm)

See some of the UK’s strongest men – including Mark Felix, Graham Hicks and Chris Gearing – tackle events such as the Atlas Stones and log press.

As well as the strong man competition there will be a funfair, birds of prey demonstrations, an assault course, food and drinks stalls and much more.

Free Family Funday with C'Beebies

Where: St John's Square, Blackpool Town Centre

When: Saturday 25th July (12-4pm)

Come and join Dean O’Brien as Mr Yipadee with Katy (I Can Cook) and Rhyme Rockets from the BBC's CBeebies live on stage for the best kids music and sing-a-long songs. There’ll also be a Big Blackpool mascot dance off, kids face painting, bouncy castle and lots of entertainment for all the family.

There are a limited number of seats available, so if you want to watch the whole show, get there early.

And be warned - joining in is a must!

 

Family Saturdays

Where: Chester Amphitheatre

When: Every Saturday throughout July and August (12-4pm)

Come on down to Chester's Roman Amphitheatre from 12pm - 4pm every Saturday in July and August for an afternoon packed full of FREE family fun!

With a mountain of glitter, glue, fancy paper and some crazy ideas, the Chester Performs team have been planning some super exciting crafts and activities to keep you busy all summer long. Spend the afternoon enjoying the sunshine, meeting new friends, lazing in deckchairs or hang out at the toddler crawl space.

Melton By The Sea

Where: Melton Mowbray town centre

When: 19th August 2015 - 22nd August 2015 (10am-4pm)

All the fun of the seaside comes to Melton Mowbray town centre this August. There will be sand pits, pirates, an art and crafts tent, face painting, funfair rides, stalls, a seaside trail and competitions galore!

GGO Games

Where: BMX Track, Mount Pleasant Drive, Winsford

When: Saturday 22nd August (All day)

The GGO (Greenfields Park, Glebe Green and Over communities) have will hold their annual fun day this August. There are lots of activities on offer for all ages – including sports games and face painting.

Reading Family Fun Day

Where: Prospect Park, Reading

When: Sunday 26th July (11am-5pm)

An annual family event that takes place at Prospect Park Reading. With lots of stalls and attractions on offer, you are sure to find something for the whole family.

 

Batty about Bats

Where: Bewsey Bridge, Warrington

When: Wednesday 19th August (8:30-10:30pm)

Sankey Valley Park is home to many different species of bats. Join the Rangers for this guided walk around the park and see how many species we can find. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
