APPRENTICE HOPING TO BUILD HOUSING CAREER 'LOVES WHAT SHE’S LEARNING AT MUIR'

AN 'INSPIRED' housing apprentice says she’s loving learning and working at Muir.

Ella Tsimbilakis is completing an 18-month housing apprenticeship and believes the ‘eye-opening’ experience is inspiring her to pursue a career in the sector.

She’s been enjoying a range of opportunities to speak with residents and provide the supporting services Muir delivers as she aims to complete her Chartered Institute of Housing Level Two qualification in Property Management later this year.

Muir staff “It’s been really interesting to speak with lots of residents and understand their different needs,” 19-year-old Ella said.

“Seeing how social housing works has been a real eye opener and I’ve been enjoying helping residents as they access our services.”

A regular gym-goer who loves spending time with her family, Ella spent nine months with Muir’s Cheshire West and Chester housing team before continuing her apprenticeship in Customer Services.

“I feel like I’ve done so much,” said Ella. “When I was with the housing team I spent lots of time out and about with Tenancy Services Officers.

“I’ve done house viewings, accompanied electrical inspections, completed pre-tenancy assessment checks, helped deal with anti-social behaviour issues and assisted vulnerable people too.

“I was also involved in helping someone who was homeless to move into a Muir property which was really rewarding.

Ella was inspired to join Muir’s apprenticeship by her mum who works as a social worker and said: “I’m really enjoying my time at Muir and would love to continue working in housing.”
