Muir's apprenticeships offer people the chance to gain accredited qualifications in the housing sector while gaining workplace experience that can help apprentices secure roles within the industry.

They are also available to existing staff wanting to enhance their skills and qualifications.

In 2021, Muir scooped the nationwide SYSCO Training Academy ‘Housing Apprenticeship Employer of the Year’ Award.

The Association received the coveted award as it was recognised by SYSCO for its “hard work and commitment to developing a skilled and motivated workforce through apprenticeships.”

Muir staff video Mykaela Bruce - Business Support Officer

“I chose to do apprenticeship alongside my role so I could learn a bit more about management, so there might be room for me to progress through to a management role in the future.

“The apprenticeship basically focused on all aspects of management including budget setting, conflict resolution and project management.

“I was able to undertake my own project, focusing on the revamp of our factsheets for residents, and I’ve been leading on several other projects within my team since then as well.”

Muir staff Ella Tsimbalakis - Apprentice 2021-22

"Muir is one of the best associations to complete an apprenticeship with.

"The stability and challenge were what I was drawn to about this role, and the idea of getting a qualification whilst helping people on a day-to-day basis.

"I have already learnt so much I am looking forward to seeing where this career takes me.

"No two days are the same and that is what I love."

Muir staff Ross O'Dulchaointigh - Applications Support Analyst

"Being able to do the 'Team Leader, Level 3 Apprenticeship' is a great opportunity to help me develop a range of management skills to support growth, change and performance.

"My role involves managing the day to day running of core business systems.

"I also assist with first and second line support for any issues, upgrade and implement system changes."

"I have been studying the Level 5 HR Consultant Partner Apprenticeship Programme as part of Muir’s existing employee apprenticeship training.

"This has been great as I have been able to study alongside my day job.

"It has given me more confidence in my role, as well as a really valuable qualification."
