‘IT’S TRANSFORMED MY LIFE’ – RESIDENT URGES OTHERS WITH MONEY ISSUES TO ACCESS MUIR TENANCY SUPPORT
A MEMBER of Muir’s NRG is urging his fellow residents to access the tenancy support available after saying how it helped transform his life.
Ron Chambers, recently accessed the financial and wellbeing tenancy support Muir offers and says he feared what might have done without it.
The Worcester resident, who is also a member of Muir’s National Residents Group (NRG), is encouraging others to contact the Association’s Tenancy Sustainment Officers if they require financial or wellbeing support.
“The support I received was absolutely brilliant,” Ron said. “It’s helped to transform things for me.
“I’d definitely advise other residents with financial or wellbeing issues to contact Muir for this support.
“
It’s had a huge impact on my position – without it, I don’t think I’d be here to talk about it now.”
Having been a full-time carer for his wife during 19 years of the 23 they were married, the Carer’s Allowance he received from the Government ended after she passed away.
For several years after her death, Ron struggled with mounting debts as he also battled with the pain of her loss.
“I asked Muir for help and Wayne Pearson, a Tenancy Sustainment Officer, came to see me at my home,” said Ron.
“I explained my financial position and he was able to help me obtain a Debt Relief Order which has really, really helped.
“He gave me some great advice and with the rent arrears some residents struggle with, a lot of it can be dealt with in an easier way with the help of Muir’s Tenancy Sustainment Officers.”
