Meet Muir Property Solutions and see how MPS maintain Muir homes - Video

HAVING the services of its own maintenance team helps give Muir Group Housing Association a head start when dealing with repairs and planned works.

Muir Property Solutions (MPS) was acquired in 2015 and this played a key role in giving the housing association a better platform from which to provide an improved maintenance service for residents.

MPS - Alan Stockton Alan Stockton (right), Responsive Repairs Contracts Manager at MPS, has been a part of that change from day one, and believes the move allows Muir to be more responsive and increase levels of customer satisfaction.

MPS VanEach day is different and they throw up their own challenges but it’s all about finding the right solution,” Alan said.

“We work closely with Muir’s housing management teams to help deal with issues more effectively and working together in this way helps drive us forward.

“It’s a great advantage to do planned maintenance in-house alongside responsive repairs.

“It enables us to be more flexible and give greater customer satisfaction.”

MPS operatives Although repairs can vary in size, the MPS team aims to respond to 32 appointments each day.

The team is made up of 19 operatives, 11 of which focus on day-to-day repairs, while the other eight work on empty properties, making sure they are ready for their next residents.

The MPS team are primarily based in Warrington but cover Muir properties over a vast area from Kirby Lonsdale in Lancaster, to Crewe, and from Bradford to Wrexham in North Wales.

And Alan says he is enjoying his time at MPS having previously spent 15 years in the trade as a plumber and electrician.

“Coming into my role with that experience helps me to have a good understanding of the problems the team can face, but also how they can be rectified effectively,” he said.

MPSThere are various timeslots which residents can book with MPS for a repair at their property throughout the day, while the team also offer Thursday evening and Saturday morning appointments to residents who may otherwise have needed to take time off work.

A 24-hour call-out service is also available for emergency repairs.
