MUIR’S SUPPORT HELPS BEREAVED RESIDENT TO MAKE HIS NEXT MOVE

MUIR’S support has helped a resident take the next steps in their life after a bereavement left them struggling to start again.

Housing officers helped Martin Kundi to downsize and get set up in a new one-bed flat in Godmanchester while supporting him to update his benefits and apply for Universal Credit.

He’s also been able to access food bank vouchers and benefit from a household support fund as Muir ensured he can move forward with more confidence and overcome financial concerns.

Muir staff “Mr Kundi has benefited from intensive support we’ve provided to help him through a challenging time,” Sophie Powter, Tenancy Sustainment Officer at Muir (pictured right) said.

“He had no family or friends to support him but we’ve been able to help him with his move and making his new flat feel like home.

Muir resident “We’ve stayed in regular contact with Mr Kundi and been able to access external funding including a well-being grant, as well as supporting his benefit applications.

“He has been able to obtain a new cooker and was awarded a discretionary housing payment to help with his removal costs.”

Mr Kundi is now settled in his new flat after having also received support from Muir’s partnering charities as he set up his utility bills and registered with a new GP.

Muir staff  “Muir have been so helpful and I’m very grateful for all the support I’ve received,” he said.

Sophie Hughes, Tenancy Services Officer with Muir’s East team (right) said: “We’re so pleased to help Mr Kundi make his move and support him with the changes in his life.”
