OUR CONTRACTORS HELP US IDENTIFY SAFEGUARDING RISKS SO WE CAN HELP

CONTRACTORS we work with help make us aware of safeguarding issues in our homes.

Often, repairs or planned maintenance operatives, or engineers making safety checks are people residents see most frequently.

They are trained to identify safeguarding issues, so they can make us aware of any resident who may be at risk.

See how contractors including Foster Property Maintenance, Aaron Services and Liberty work to identify safeguarding issues below.

Safeguarding logo We know some safeguarding issues can be linked with unsafe homes, so for us, safe homes and safeguarding go hand in hand,” Sofia McFadyen, Muir’s Head of Compliance said.

“During our home safety checks, our colleagues and contractors may access a home no one else has visited for months, giving us the opportunity to identify people with care and support needs or who may be at risk of harm.

“We ensure all contractors have safeguarding training and we have regular conversations about the importance of reporting any concerns, creating a safer culture by working together.”

Foster Property Maintenance logo “I’m committed to ensuring Safeguarding is a key focus throughout our day-to-day delivery working in partnership with Muir,” Andrea Niles, Repairs and Void Project Manager at Foster Property Maintenance said.

“We are the eyes and ears for Muir, and it’s our responsibility to share sensitive information quickly and with the correct people to enable Muir to better support residents.

“We also have specially trained staff across our organisation to support colleagues as well as members of the public, that are our Mental Health first Aiders who can assist in times of crisis.”

“It’s important that we work in collaboration with Muir to safeguard customers,” Faye Henderson, Head of SHEQ at Aaron Services said.

“Working together and providing training, guidance, and a secure platform to record accurate accounts of any signs engineers may spot whilst working in the property, will only enhance confidence in managing safeguarding concerns.”

Liberty logo "At Liberty, safeguarding is a cornerstone of our approach to service delivery,” Karen Sloan, Managing Director of Heating and Compliance at Liberty said.

“We ensure all our staff receive comprehensive safeguarding training, equipping them to recognise and act appropriately on any concerns.

“Our heating engineers are often the only representatives entering a resident’s home each year, as they complete legally required gas safety checks, making us an important link in safeguarding Muir's customers.”
