RESIDENTS PICK FREE PIZZAS AS THEY LEARN ABOUT HOW WE WORK WITH COMMUNITY GROUPS

EVENTS in our North region have been giving residents more ways to see how we work with community groups to maximise people’s quality of life.

Residents have been tucking into free pizzas and learning about how we work with groups to promote wellbeing, tackle anti-social behaviour, benefit from mentoring, tenancy sustainment support and more, while also entering raffles to win shopping vouchers.

Events in Skelmersdale and Northallerton also saw us trim back shrubs and hedges to make sure places are set for spring to arrive.

What we did in Skelmersdale…

“It was good to be in communities for multi-agency events to show how we work with community groups and the police to keep people safe and help maximise people’s quality of life,” Liz Christian, Muir Tenancy Services Officer said.

“We did some litter picking and gardening, provided a skip for unwanted items and were also giving away free pizzas to residents too.

“We also worked with The Birchwood Centre in Skelmersdale to highlight the great services they provide including a foodbank, yoga, mentoring and free three-course dinners – as well as much more.”

Interested applicants were also invited to view vacant flats so they could consider what life might be like in a new home.

How things went in Northallerton…

Northallerton residents also enjoyed a similar event with visits from councillors and the North Yorkshire Community Safety Partnership.

“It was good to show residents how we work together with them and community groups to ensure they can enjoy neighbourhoods free from anti-social behaviour.

“We care about communities, and it was lovey to host these events and knock on residents’ doors to explain some of the things we do with a free pizza as well.”
