SAFEGUARDING SUPPORT WE PROVIDE HELPS CHANGE LIVES

SAFEGUARDING support we provide helps ensure the safety of adults and children exposed to harm.

We opened 128 safeguarding cases in 2025-25, with a further 78 opened since April this year.

We refer some cases to partner agencies including police and mental health teams and resolve others by moving residents to alternative accommodation if they’re no longer able to manage the home they’re in – or working with our Tenancy Sustainment Officers to provide additional support including frequent visits and wellbeing advice.

The main safeguarding concerns people raise include:

Mental Health
Physical illness
Neglect/self-neglect
Domestic violence

We also deal with many more. Learn how you can report a safeguarding concern or learn more below.

Safeguarding video“Everyone has the right to live in a world free from harm and neglect,” Jo Worthington, Community Housing Manager at Muir said.

“If anyone contacts us because they are fearful, or worried about a resident, we act to stop the risks or experiences abuse or neglect can create.

“We’re proud to work with partner agencies in communities to ensure adults and children get the support they need to change their circumstances and maximise their quality of life.

“People can contact us with their concerns in confidence, safe in the knowledge that we’ll help in line with our own Safeguarding policy.”

If you’re worried about a Muir resident or a member of their family, call us on 0300 123 1222 or email safeguarding@muir.org.uk
