APPRENTICE SAYS MUIR’S A GREAT FIRST STEP TOWARDS A HOUSING CAREER

AN APPRENTICE has shared how he’s enjoying helping Muir residents while preparing for a career in housing.

Luke Crabtree, 18, is working towards a Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 Housing qualification while gaining experience in different Muir departments.

Having served the first part of his apprenticeship with our Customer Experience Team helping to handle customer queries on repairs and rent, he’s now spending time one of our housing teams as part of his 18-month stay.

Muir staff “I believe social housing is a good career choice as it allows you to help customers out who are in need of housing” Luke said.

“The apprenticeship is giving me a wide range of experience – dealing with customers over the phone and face to face.

“When I first started, I was in Muir’s Customer Experience Team, taking customer enquiries over the phone as their first point of contact.

“I enjoyed being able to help them get the help they needed.”

“Now I’m working with Work in the Cheshire West and Chester Housing Team as a Housing assistant.

Muir staff “I support housing officers with a range of tasks which can include dealing with lettings and anti-social behaviour issues.

“I’m really enjoying the lettings side of things as I find it interesting how this side of the business works.”

Liverpool fan, Luke, says he’d also recommend Muir’s award-winning apprenticeships to others – particularly as he’s been able to spend time in different departments that help him understand different sides of the business.

“I’d recommend this apprenticeship at Muir to others because it gives you a wide range of experience and allows you to identify job roles that may be the best fit for you.”
