HOW WE HELP KEEP WATER SAFE IN YOUR HOME

MAKING sure you stay safe sometimes means ensuring the water you use in your home isn’t a risk.

That’s why we work with contractors, risk assess and provide information to help ensure your water remains safe.

One of the ways we keep water safe is by working together with you to minimise the risk of Legionnaire’s disease, a severe form of pneumonia, which you can get from breathing in tiny droplets of water containing legionella bacteria.

“By working together with you, we can help make sure water you use in your home remains safe,” Sofia McFadyen, Muir’s Head of Compliance said.

“Take a look at some of the ways we work to ensure the water you use in your home remains free from harm.”

  • We regularly risk assess and monitor shared water systems (such as in Muir Living locations) to ensure your water is maintained at safe temperatures. This helps to minimise any risk of Legionella.

  • We publish advice on our website about how you can ensure you’re not at risk from Legionella so your water remains safe.

  • We investigate any concerns raised by residents or any issues we discover and clean, repair or replace any water system that presents a risk.

  • When fitting new heating systems or renewing kitchens and bathrooms, we have safety processes in place that help minimise any risk from Legionella as works take place.

  • We work with a specialist water hygiene contractor to provide an extra layer of defence to test water is safe after works have been completed.

  • We ensure ‘We’re Muir’ repairs and maintenance operatives, and our Muir Living teams are trained in Legionella awareness and prevention.
