Longest serving resident celebrates another year 'in office' with Muir
A LONG-SERVING resident at one of Muir’s sheltered housing schemes is celebrating 27 years ‘in office’.
Emily Chesters, 96, is the longest serving resident at the Tweedsmuir sheltered housing scheme in Chester, and has been celebrating her 27-year stay with family, friends and neighbours.
She took time out from partying to reminisce about her years at the scheme, and says she would never consider moving to anywhere else.
“I have many happy memories of Tweedsmuir and I thoroughly enjoy living here,” said Emily.
“There are always people to chat to, and lots going on.
“When I came home from a stay in hospital everyone was very kind to me.
“I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.”
Tweedsmuir is a safe and secure sheltered housing environment for people over 60, where independent living is encouraged and ‘living for life’ is their motto.
Donna Hufton, Muir Group Housing Association’s scheme manager at Tweedsmuir in Chester said: “Emily has many neighbours who have become good friends over the years.
“She is the longest serving resident at Tweedsmuir and we love having her here.
“We are pleased she enjoys it just as much as we do.”
