OUR SAFEGUARDING SUPPORT HELPS KEEP MUIR RESIDENTS AND FAMILIES FREE FROM HARM - IT CAN HELP YOU TOO

WHENEVER we learn about a resident who may be at risk of neglect or harm, Muir moves to provide safeguarding support.

All you need to do is let us know what you or a fellow resident is experiencing, and our dedicated Safeguarding Champions can start to help.

A referral/reporting form is available via the link at the bottom of this page.

Examples of ways Muir have helped provide safeguarding support for Muir residents include with domestic abuse and drug-related issues.

One resident referred herself after experiencing domestic abuse and financial problems, saying she feared for her safety and wished to improve her situation.

A Muir Tenancy Services Officer worked with her, registering for rehousing and applying to the local authority for a discretionary housing payment while getting our Tenancy Sustainment Officer to provide additional support.

Safeguarding championThe support was provided by way of a weekly phone call and they are still in contact, should that support be needed.

Another safeguarding case with a different resident arose when a concerned neighbour reported that drugs were being used in a property where there were young children.

The resident concerned was initially upset with the accusation, but after intervention from a Muir Tenancy Services Officer and following a referral to the local authority to safeguard the children, she has since engaged and has been working with the police and other agencies with no further issues of concern raised.

This means that both the resident and her children can enjoy a better environment and quality of life.
