WE’VE BEEN TAKING A STAND AGAINST FUEL POVERTY WITH COMMUNITY EVENTS AND GIVEAWAYS
WE’VE been taking poverty action by giving away energy-saving lightbulbs and warm winter clothing at community events.
Increasing energy costs contribute to fuel poverty – leaving more people out in the cold and struggling to pay bills.
We tried to help on Fuel Poverty Awareness Day (November 25) by hosting events in our communities where we could provide items to bring a little extra warmth to you and your homes .
“We know many residents struggle with rising energy bills and we wanted to help,” Daniel Turner Muir Tenancy Sustainment Officer said.
“We worked with partners to obtain energy-saving LED lightbulbs , provide advice from energy charity representatives including Pocket Power and National Energy Action , and help people with some donate d winter clothing to help cut costs.
We hosted events in Winsford, Godmanchester, Chester and Burnley to help take action against rising energy costs.
Sophie Powter, also a Tenancy Sustainment Officer at Muir said: “It was interesting to help residents receive support and advice as we all begin spending more on energy bills over winter.
“We’re pleased to provide things that can help them at an expensive time of year.”
A fundraising event held at the Muir HQ saw colleagues raise more than £400 for the National Energy Action charity – helping to support people fighting fuel poverty.
It doesn’t end there .
