FIRST HOMES GO SOLAR AS OUR NEW SUSTAINABILITY APPROACH GOES GREEN!
WE’VE started going solar as part of our commitment to improve the energy efficiency of our homes!
We’ve initially installed solar panels to 26 homes in Lincolnshire – meaning residents are now benefiting from lower energy bills and new technologies.
It’s part of our sustainability approach – ‘going green’ by embracing new technologies to help reduce energy bills, improve the health and wellbeing of customers, and ensure our properties continue to reach the Decent Homes Standard .
We want all our homes to have an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) of Band C by 2030.
“We’re delighted to see solar panels starting to benefit customers in our homes at Grantham and Bourne,” Emma Edwards, Muir’s Sustainability Officer said.
“They’ll help make people happier in their homes while enabling us live up to our Customer Commitment as we continue to ‘Care about you’ and ‘Look after your home’.
“Stock Condition Surveys, and other work we do to understand the energy efficiency of your homes, help us decide what work we need to do and where.
“Now we’re using grant funding to upgrade our homes where needed, to make them more energy efficient and help reduce energy costs for customers.”
We’ve already started upgrading some homes and we’re also doing assessments of others to see what improvements may also be needed if they don’t reach EPC Band C.
Electric-heated properties will undergo assessments for:
- Replacement of outdated and inefficient electric storage heaters
- Installation of wall and loft insulation to reduce heat loss
- Addition of solar panels to enhance renewable energy use
Mains gas-heated properties will be assessed for:
- Cavity wall and loft insulation to improve thermal performance
What will happen?
We’ve written to homes we identified as potentially meet ing the funding criteria.
The next step is to do an assessment on these homes to see if your home qualifies for the grant funding scheme.
We’ll let you know if your home qualifies and tell you know what energy efficiency improvements have been offered, when work might begin and what will be involved.
