WORK TO UPGRADE THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF OUR HOMES HAS ALREADY BEGUN!

OUR next step to improving the sustainability of our homes is already underway!
We’re committed to making sure all of your homes have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of Band C by 2030.
Stock Condition Surveys, and other work we do to understand the energy efficiency of your homes, help us decide what work we need to do and where.
Now we’re using grant funding to upgrade our homes where needed, to make them more energy efficient and help reduce energy costs for customers.
“Embracing new technologies will help reduce energy bills, improve the health and wellbeing of customers, and ensure our properties continue to reach the Decent Homes Standard ,” Emma Edwards, Muir Sustainability Officer said.
“We’re delighted to be securing grant funding to begin upgrading the energy efficiency of homes that don’t reach EPC Band C.
“We’re working with South Coast Insulation Services (SCIS) to help us achieve this while accessing Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) and Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) funding.
“Energy efficiency improvements will be tailored to each eligible property based on its heating type, ensuring targeted and effective upgrades.
“This also helps us live up to our Customer Commitment as we continue to ‘Care about you’ and ‘Look after your home’.”
We’ve already started upgrading some homes and we’re also doing assessments of others to see what improvements may also be needed if they don’t reach EPC Band C.

Electric-heated properties will undergo assessments for:
- Replacement of outdated and inefficient electric storage heaters
- Installation of wall and loft insulation to reduce heat loss
- Addition of solar panels to enhance renewable energy use
Mains gas-heated properties will be assessed for:
- Cavity wall and loft insulation to improve thermal performance

What will happen?
We’ve written to homes we identified as potentially meet ing the funding criteria.
The next step is to do an assessment on these homes to see if your home qualifies for the grant funding scheme.
We’ll let you know if your home qualifies and tell you know what energy efficiency improvements have been offered, when work might begin and what will be involved.
