News In Brief

Gas Safety Campaign Gas Safe logo

Keep an eye out for your annual gas safety check appointment letter arriving through your letter box.

If the appointment date in the letter is not convenient, please contact the contractor for your area or our customer service desk on 0300 123 1222 to arrange another appointment.

As you are aware, Muir is required by law to check annually that all gas appliances in your home are working safely. We have appointed two contractors, Warmer Energy Services Ltd in the north, and Foster Property Maintenance Ltd in the south, to carry out these safety checks on our behalf.

It is essential that you allow our contractors access to your home to carry out these checks to keep you, your family, visitors and neighbours safe.

It’s not just an issue for Muir either. Across the UK, over 14,500 homes are currently classed as ‘unsafe’ as a direct result of refusal to allow access for a gas safety check.

No access visits cost money which can result in fewer planned maintenance schemes, such as kitchens and bathrooms being fitted in Muir properties each year. So, please re-arrange your appointment if you are not going to be at home.

Comic Relief 2015 Comic relief photo

Muir staff, along with residents from Panton Road, did something funny for money by raising over £172 for Comic Relief.

They rustled up some tasty treats to take part in the Great Muir Bake Off, and everyone pulled out all the stops to impress the judge – Muir Chairman, David Booth!

Although everyone put in a tremendous effort, there could be only one winner, with Cerys Hughes from our Customer Services Team being crowned Star Baker!

Emma comes to the rescue! Byron and Keats photo

There was some fishy goings on at Muir HQ earlier this year as we welcomed two new members to the Muir team…. Byron and Keates the goldfish!

Byron & Keates arrived at our head office in Chester after being rescued from an empty property by Emma Robinson from our Housing team.

We're happy to report that that both Byron and Keates have now been rehomed!
