Supported Housing Update

Supported Housing Latest

In previous editions of VOICE, we have highlighted some of the changes that our supported housing schemes are facing as a result of funding cuts.

Protecting these schemes has been a priority for Muir, and we have been looking at securing alternative funding to ensure we can continue to deliver these services.

Despite significant challenges, we are now confident that we can continue to retain these vital services for our residents.  This has meant that we now have to deliver certain support services in a different way – with Stonham and Forum Housing Association taking over our accommodation based support services across Cheshire West and Chester. Both organisations have an outstanding track record in this field, and as a result we are confident that our residents will see an enhanced support service in the future.  Muir staff will continue to be based at our schemes providing a housing management service, whilst other staff have opted to work for the support providers.

We are Listening…

Throughout the whole process of reviewing both our supported and sheltered housing services, we have endeavoured to listen to our residents, and we have seen some positive changes as a result.

One such example of this has been seen at Fusilier Court, our sheltered housing scheme in Bury. Residents were consulted about the type of service they would like to receive from Muir.

As a result, Catherine Evans has been appointed as the new Sheltered Officer for Fusilier Court. She will be available at the scheme during the mornings, 5 days a week, providing a housing management service and enabling residents to live independently in their own  homes.
