Right To Manage

The Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002 provides a right for leaseholders to request the transfer of the landlord's management functions to a special company set up by them - the Right To Manage company.

This was partly introduced to empower leaseholders, who generally hold the majority of value in the property, to take responsibility for the management of their block.

The right to manage is available to leaseholders of flats, not of houses.

If you are interested in finding out more information about the support we can offer in setting up a Right To Manage Company, please contact Suzanne Murphy, Leasehold Services Officer, who will be happy to talk you through the process.

The Government is proposing further changes to Right to Manage. We recommend you seek your own independent legal advice if you wish to pursue this.
